Terms of Service

1. What bytes does

bytes turns long-form video into short vertical clips. It transcribes your footage, scores the moments worth cutting, and gives you a frame-accurate editor and a renderer to finish them. It is a tool: it proposes, you decide, and nothing is published anywhere on your behalf. Features change as the product develops.

2. Your account

You sign in with Google. Some accounts reach bytes through a linked Streamline account instead, and older accounts may still sign in with a wallet signature. Sessions last 7 days, after which you sign in again. You are responsible for keeping access to your sign-in method secure, and for everything done through your account.

3. Your content stays yours

You keep full ownership of everything you upload, everything you import, and everything bytes renders from it. We claim no licence beyond what is needed to run the service for you — storing your files, processing them, and showing them back to you.
  • You must own or hold the rights to anything you bring in, including video imported from a link. You confirm this on every import.
  • We never use your footage, audio or transcripts to train models, and we never share them with other users.
  • Sharing a byte creates an unlisted public link that anyone holding it can view, until you revoke it.

4. Credits, and what they cost

bytes is paid for in credits. There is no subscription, no plan and no feature behind an upgrade — every capability is available to every account.
  • 100 credits = $1. One credit is one US cent.
  • Processing is charged once per minute of source video, at the analysis level you choose: Fast 2 credits/min, Better 3 credits/min, Best 5 credits/min. Cutting any number of clips from one source costs nothing further.
  • Exporting is 10 credits per finished file.
  • New accounts receive 300 free credits ($3.00). No card is required.
  • You are charged only when work succeeds. A failed transcription or a failed render is never charged, and re-running a video that already paid does not charge again.
  • Credits do not expire and there is no monthly reset.
Card payments are not yet available. Credits are added to accounts manually on request, and we will tell you the price before adding any. Where credits have been paid for and not yet spent, contact us and we will refund the unused balance.

5. Limits

  • A single source may be up to 10 hours long and 30 GB in size.
  • A limited number of videos process at once per account. Anything over that waits its turn rather than being refused.
  • Some sites block downloads from cloud servers and cannot be imported by link. Where we know this in advance we say so before you spend anything.

6. Acceptable use

Do not upload or import content that is unlawful, infringes someone else's rights, or was obtained without permission. Do not use bytes to produce material that sexualises minors, incites violence, or harasses a person. We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules, and we will tell you why.

7. AI output is a draft, not a verdict

Transcripts, scores, hooks, titles, captions, translations and generated text are produced by AI and can be wrong — including confidently wrong. Scores are estimates, not predictions of performance. Where a suggestion is backed by measured data we show the sample size behind it so you can judge its weight. Review everything before you publish; what you post is your responsibility.

8. Availability

bytes is under active development and offered as is. We do not promise uninterrupted service, and processing times vary with source length and load. We may change or withdraw features, and will give reasonable notice of anything that removes access to work you have already done.

9. Ending your use

You can delete individual projects, delete everything in Settings → Account, or ask us to remove your account entirely. We may close an account that breaches section 6. On closure we delete your content as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Warranty and liability

The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
